Bleeds and overloads function differently depending on source. Burning and corroded (and to a lesser extent, overload) appear to function as intended. With the patch today, I have tested out the changes to status effects.
I think the key to any ritualist build at the moment is Band of the Fanatic. With the current way status effects work in game, shortening the duration while consistently applying it, like with sparkfire shotgun, merciless, and/or twisted wounds, is a solid way to have significant DPS.
