The only big downside to the uchi is that it deals slashing damage on non-thrust attacks where the BSS does normal damage. The BSS 2h heavy attack is a bit more useful than the uchi's. If a weapon has a gem infusion other than raw, sharp, refined or heavy it cannot be buffed. well i dont think it really matters all that much since those modifiers are crazy good and chaos has a much higher base damage than sharp to boot. A +10 chaos uchigatana has 253 base damage total while the sharp one has 212.
