I currently play apocalypse with sprinters as a Burger Flipper, and imo it's one of the best if not the best melee build in the game. It's definitely the best melee class against sprinters. Go for nimble and long blunt. I would just make a simple one with little to no negative traits except for the very underweight trait. There's enough food around to lose that trait in a couple of days so its almost just free points. Also take lucky. High str and fit, high nimble. All the other things you can grind.
