Just purchased an LCP a few weeks ago and i've noticed when i pull the slide back with a full clip it has a tendency to stick in the rear-ward position. If i tap the side of the gun or pull the slide back it will go forward though.
The hammer was proabley up in the fired position when you tried to install the slide. The hammer must be down when you install the slide. About to problem with the barrel rubbing aganist the slide. Check under the slide and look at the top front of the ejection port and make sure there are no little bumps there.
