Springfield XD VS GLOCK 19 I’ve heard about some folks trading in their Glock 19s for the Springfield XD and I was a little surprised. In terms of their sizes, these two guns are nearly identical in length and weight.A Glock trigger is a double action trigger basically. It draws back the striker, disengages the striker safety, and releases the striker. The XDm trigger is single action. I'm not knocking the 19. But I do see competitive alternatives that have been just as reliable as the 19 to say the least.

There is nothing wrong with a grip safety just ask the 1911 folks. I prefer the Glock 19 over the XD9 but again both are good weapons. If this gun is primarily for her then go with what she feels more comfortable with. Both guns will get the job done. As to the XD-45, the XDM-45 4.5" was a major improvement in almost every respect, that resulted in a gun that I like way better than the G21. As to any compact handgun vs a Glock 19-23-32, Glock will always be my preference (I left out the G38 here because of the alien .45GAP round).The Glock just has tons more going for it. Loads more accessories and custom parts, mags are everywhere and cheap if you get Magpul mags, holster choices are dizzying, too. I started with a 2nd gen G17, went to an XD then sold it and went back to Glocks. This is the main difference when it comes to triggers and gives two very distinct triggers. Personally, the Sig P229 is a better gun out of the box. Though not super hard to conceal, the G43 would be easier in that category. The XD-E is also heavier and of course has a completely different trigger feel (DA/SA hammer vs. striker).
